Product: Laser Jet Pro M251nw
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista
Every time I print a page or pages, I get a message saying Load Tray 1, Light, Letter or press OK to use available media. When I hit OK the printer will only print one page, then it says clean and takes several seconds before I can hit OK again to print anothe page. This is extremely time consuming if I want several pages of the same document printed.

Hi @ JB1950 ,
I see that you are having issues printing. I would be happy to help you.
Make sure the proper settings are set in the printer properties and the application you are printing from.
On the File menu in the software program, click Print.
Select the product, and then click the Properties or Preferences button.
Click the Paper/Quality tab.
Check the Paper Size, Paper Source, Paper Type, to make sure they are correct. If the Paper Type is set to unspecified, change it to the correct paper.
Try printing a multiple page document from another application to see if you have the same results.
Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it.HP Printers - Using HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
What size of paper are you using and what kind of paper is it?
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
Don't forget to install the updates drivers: HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads

Hi JB1950,
Try to change default tray to differenttray (for example: Tray 2) and choose correct paper size and print quality consistent with the paper you put into paper tray. Hope this will solve your issue.

Hi JB1950,
Gemini02's answer is going to help, but let me clarify. The print job from the driver is set to print on a specific media - in your case your print job is set for letter size and light media. If the printer does not have such media in a tray that has been set from the panel (or admin) to letter light, the printer will not just print the document on available media. It instead tells you to load the needed media into a tray, here tray 1. When you hit OK,you areresponding to the question "should the printer use available media" which is media that is set up in another tray. Here is where it gets interesting. If you print an image that might not fit on the other media, the system thinks it might have toner off the page (it can't really tell) and therefore often goes through a cleaning process to make sure there is no extratoner somewhere that might come out on someone elses (or the next) document. this cleaning takes time. It will not print a next page if it thinks there could be stray toner.
Solution. Go to the print the page point in your workflow, before clicking on print, select printer properties, then make sure that the media for this print job is selected as a media that is in the normal tray - say size letter and type plain - then print. If there is a tray set for type and size of plain letter there will be no delay for the first or any of the pages.Hope this helps. Dovid

I've been having this problem for about two months - not sure what happened because I'd never encountered this issue before. However, I tried your "fix" and it didn't work. My printer preferences keep defaulting back to "Manual Feed" after I change it to "Auto Feed." This is very annoying because I often walk away from my work, assuming it is printing, only to return and have to click on "Continue" to get the job printed.

This "fix" is as much work as clicking on Continue. Can't we simply disable the message?
