Active cancellation
The iPower X uses Active Noise Cancellation II to cancel all incoming EMI or RFI noise.
This is the same tech as in active noise-cancelling headphones! Imagine how well these block out cabin noise on a plane compared to regular headphones?

Improved capacitance
As usual with iFi, every new design means not only improving how it looks on the outside but more importantly, how it functions on the inside.
The input capacitance is now 50% larger and the output capacitance is 150% larger when compared to the original iPower.
In practical terms, this gives you more filtration, improved dynamics and unsurpassed sound quality.
Crème de la crème components
We’re using the latest solid organic capacitors for better suppression of high-frequency noise. And the leakage capacitance is some 20x lower than your normal SMPS!
In a nutshell, there is no escape for unwanted noise!
All in all, the iPower X will give you 20% more power than the original iFi iPower and increased amperage which means it can work with more equipment than ever before.

Yes, a constant current and voltage power supply like iPowerX will ensure that the current supplied to your LED system will remain stable, no matter the fluctuations of the AC power in your wall socket.
Active Noise Cancellation
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) reduces unwanted sound by the addition of a second sound wave specifically designed to cancel out the first. This basically results in no sound at all as it reaches unwanted sound even at the lowest frequencies.
Passive noise cancellation is done by means of insulating filters and works best on the middle to high frequencies. It does not work on the lower frequencies meaning that some sound can still be heard.
EMI (Electromagnetic Interference)
EMI is a type of interference caused by errant and unwanted electromagnetic waves that are received and amplified by an audio system. They cause some of the annoying ‘audio gremlins’ we often talk about.
RFI (Radio-frequency interference)
Radio-frequency interference (RFI) is very similar to electromagnetic interference (EMI) but is found in the radio frequency spectrum. It is another source of irritatiing, unwanted noise often talked about as an ‘audio gremlin’.
Top tip: just don’t add water.
Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS)
A switched-mode power supply is an electronic power supply that incorporates a switching regulator to convert electrical power efficiently. It transfers power from a DC or AC source to DC loads, such as a personal computer, while converting voltage and current characteristics.
Switch-mode power supplies are widely used because of the advantages they offer in terms of size, weight, cost, efficiency and overall performance. They are in themselves noisy and were not designed with audio in mind.
Based on military tech, our improvedActive Noise Cancellation II® actively cancels all incoming noise.
It does this in a similar way to active noise-cancelling headphones – it generates a signal identical to that of the incoming electrical noise but in the opposite phase, actively cancelling it out. This is highly effective at removing low- and mid-frequency noise, while passive insulating filters deal with higher frequency interference. This combination is measurably more effective at eradicating noise corrupting the USB signal than devices relying solely on passive filtering.
For better suppression of high-frequency noise, we added solid organic semi-conductors to its output filter.
TheiPower Xleakage noise is 20x lower than normal SMPS (100pf vs 2,200pf).
When compared to the original iPower:
i. Input capacitance is 50% larger; 47uf instead of 33uf.
ii. Output capacitance is 150% larger.
It works with virtually any DC powered device and comes in 5, 9, 12 and 15 volts.
Just check the correct voltage and away you go. Clean, audiophile grade power.

Fine upgrade
The Ifi power supply was purchased for use with a Dynavector P75 MIV phono stage (12v input) and is a fine upgrade towards the sound quality from this fine phono stage.
Although Dynavector’s manual says that a cheap low quality psu will do a good enough job I disagree and this psu is well worth purchasing.
Using several Ifi products now: DC Blocker (worth every penny). Zen phono stage (used in 2nd system, fantastic sound for the money) and iFi Zen bluetooth (again a fantastic piece of kit).

Great addition to the iFi ZEN DAC
I bought this PSU for my ifi Zen DAC (v2) which by default takes its power from the USB circuit of the connected music streamer, in my case a Raspberry Pi running MoOde. Having connected the PSU I immediately noticed a huge improvement to the soundstage of my system as well as an improvement in clarity and separation of the different instruments. £109 is a large investment for a PSU and I was more than ready to return it if I didn’t feel it was worthwhile but it didn’t take long to realise the improvement to my listening experience this made was well worth the money. I haven’t done any A to B testing with other PSUs and it may be that the addition of any PSU to the Zen DAC would be beneficial but the iPower X has a a significant number of features that are designed to give you the best possible power delivery to sensitive electronic equipment and from my personal experience it works incredibly well and I’d be more than happy to recommend it.

Impressed by the difference this made
I own a high end hifi system so decided to try this to power my switch. I must admit that I was somewhat sceptical that it would make a difference but decided to try it because if it didn’t work I could send it back.
So I was pleasantly surprised that the difference was audible so their claims on lowering noise are true. It’s also significantly cheaper than most linear mode power supplies and also made my standard consumer grade switch sound better than an “audiophile switch” I tried before which was 5x the cost of this power supply.
Needless to say, I won’t be returning it!

Super Clear with Full Natural Bass
Sounds awesome it is worth spending the extra money on it over the regular black one because this one produces a accurate sound that is not too bass heavy. Jameco reliapro 2770 is nice also, but if you have the extra money this one is absolutely the clearest sounding while still producing strong bass like the black one, but unlike the regular one it is when accurately needed. I use it with Topping E30 dac and Topping PA3 amp for the E30. This power supply helps the DAC alot but make sure you plug it into a good power conditioning surge protector along with your Amplifier, and maybe your source as well, to really get the most clarity out of your system. Insulated speaker and USB cables go along way toward clarity as well.

Distinctive sound quality improvement for relatively little cost.
This power supply replaced the stock unit that came with my Pro-ject RPM 9 turntable. It improved the sound quality of my system overall. Specifically, it reduced background noise and provided better defined placement of instruments and voices. The differences were subtle – not dramatic. However, they were distinctive enough that I would not part with the iFi. This was $100 well spent!

Very pleasant surprise
Why don’t say it.. Either I dragged subjectivity or the feeling of “sonic perception” became clear becoming even more accurate (much precision also for the rest of my installation) I exchange it in use for a Xiaomi mi tv S (fantastic and made it more fantastic) and the previous Zen Phono of you. This one is for real!
I replaced the el-cheapo power supply that came with my Schiit Mani phono preamp with this unit and yes, the sound improvement is instantly noticeable. Just like advertised: noticeably lower noise floor and better sound dynamics. I’ve been recently thinking about upgrading Mani but the way it sounds now, why bother. $100 well spent.

Using this on an RME ADI-2 FS v2 (AKM4493 version with SDLD filter). Bought it as a curiosity but I’m SUPER GLAD I did!!!!
Immediately discernible improvements in blackness, smoothness, detail, air, imaging width/depth, & separation.
Unit also runs slightly cooler by a couple degrees F, but that’s a non issue.
Before a rank objectivist chimes in, I’m professional audio editor, an expert witness in courts of law on audio, and a full voting AES member. I can hear a difference. Empirical statement.
Bottom line: highly recommended for the money. Very highly. ?

However, it is a good quality compact power supply.I installed it on a high-end audio DAC to replace the original power supply of the same rating.The differences are really minimal but there are in favor of this iFi iPower X, in particular there is a greater precision on the reproduction of high notes, practically no resonance in the difficult transients of high female voices.
So in my opinion it is worth the money it costs, you should not expect the performance of large and expensive power supplies (at least 5-10 times as much) that are used for special applications, but it is certainly better than power supplies of this size.

Bought this to replace a broken linear power supply for a streamer. It is well built and comes with a good array of connectors including usb c .
