Quick Links
Le Monarque is an Exotic Bow in Destiny 2 that is able to apply poison to enemies. This Primary weapon is fantastic for crowd control and great for DPS phases with the right Mod combination. Le Monarque shines when fighting a group of enemies or a single target with a large health pool. The game has a few options for poison weapons, but the ease of use in a Primary Bow can not be understated. The Le Monarque Catalyst is an added bonus to an already great weapon.
This Exotic Bow was added in the Forsaken expansion but has been overshadowed by many other weapons released over the years. However, Le Monarque remains the best option for long-range poison in the game. Currently, the Bow is primarily used inside Destiny 2's Crucible. However, Le Monarque is also a go-to choice whenever there is a Champion Mod for the weapon archetype. This is because the poison from the Bow will continue to proc the effect of the Mod. Fortunately, Bungie has decided to add an Intrinsic Overload property to Le Monarque in Season 18. This means Guardians will have another option for handling these Champions in the future.

Le Monarque does not have any unique Perks. Instead, they all enhance the Exotic's Intrinsic Trait Poison Arrows. Fully drawn arrows from the Bow will turn into poison arrows. Precision hits land when Poison Arrows are active and will spread the poison to nearby foes. Le Monarque comes with the Perks: Snapshot Sights, Compact Arrow Shaft, and Natural String. These all make it easier for Guardians to fully draw the weapon and land precision shots. Le Monarque is often compared to Destiny 2's Trinity Ghoul because the Exotic Bow serves a similar purpose. The weapon fires Arc bolts that hit multiple targets. However, Le Monarque's poison does not require a kill to activate and is excellent for end-game content, where enemies have plenty of health. Both Bows are excellent, but they each excel in different encounters.
How To Get Le Monarque (& Catalyst) In Destiny 2
Le Monarque was originally a drop from the Black Armory in Forsaken, but that content has since been vaulted. The Bow is now much easier to get with the addition of the Monument of Lost Lights. This Kiosk can be accessed in The Tower and holds a plethora of Exotics that were attached to older content. Le Monarque can only be purchased by players that own the Forsaken DLC. The requirements for the Bow are as follows: One Ascendant Shard, 200 Dusklight Shards, 125,000 Glimmer, and an Exotic Cipher. Exotic Ciphers can be earned by completing a quest from Xur in Destiny 2 each weekend. Ascendant Shards drop from Grandmaster Nightfalls and Trials of Osiris. Alternatively, Master Rahool will turn 10 Enhancement Prisms into one Ascendant Shard. They can also be earned by reaching max rank at the end of reward tracks.
Guardians can earn the Le Monarque Catalyst by completing playlist activities. There is an equal chance for it to drop at the end of a Strike, Gambit, or Crucible match. The Catalyst grants the Perk Unrelenting, which triggers health regeneration upon rapidly killing enemies. Two Guardian kills and three non-Guardian kills will activate the effect. Additionally, the Catalyst increases the weapon's Reload Speed and Stability stats by 20. This Exotic is fantastic for both PvP and PvE. Guardians should get the Bow and the Catalyst before Destiny 2's Season 18, as Le Monarque will be able to stun Overload Champions.
